5 Magazine #112 - Recloose. Psycho-Bitch. Sundae.
Issue #112 of 5 Magazine, released November 2014.
Featured in this issue:
Recloose: After thirteen years abroad, Matthew Chicoine is coming home. Since 2001, the DJ and producer known Recloose has been living in New Zealand, limiting international gigs to brief tours a couple of times per year and teaching at the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand. Relocating to New York, he'll also be working for Serato Audio Research - the company that produces the DJ software of the same name. It's a product he thinks can transform the way both digital and vinyl DJs play - and for the better.
Psycho-Bitch: In the golden era that she came up in, DJs weren't just DJs - they were party purveyors, responsible for creating an entire experience that went beyond the sounds you danced to. Psycho-Bitch (known to her friends as Val) has been down in the trenches for over 25+ years, and to hear her play even today you see that she still has that It factor that made her the one of the supreme House DJs of Chicago.
InResidence: Sundae: Our monthly series turns the spotlight to the City of Brotherly (and Sisterly) Love, where Sundae's ten year reign in Philadelphia is a study in hard work, tenacity... and fun.
Music Reviews: Tracks from Ricardo Miranda, Raw Ten, Ralf Gum, Rick Wade, KDJ, Josh Wink, Urban Jazz Naturals, Anthony Nicholson, Jaidene Veda, Ursula Rucker, South of Roosevelt, Wolf + Lamb, Russoul and Nick Monaco
